Maria V Matos

Maria Matos passed away peacefully on March 5, 2019 at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark, NJ. Ms. Matos was born on the 19th of July 1927 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico and grew up in Coamo, Puerto Rico. Ms. Matos moved to the NY/NJ area in the 1950's and raised her two daughters in Newark, NJ where she spent the rest of her life dedicated to her family.
She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She loved holidays and family get-togethers; and any chance to spend time with her family was important to her.  She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter Elga Marin, five grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Family and friends will gather at Alvarez Funeral Home on Saturday, March 9,2019 from 2-5PM for visitation.
