Serafina Martinez

Serafina Martinez, 63 of Newark, NJ passed away on April 2, 2019 at University Hospital in Newark, NJ.

Serafina was born and raised in Newark, NJ to Gerardo and Anna Volpe on February 26, 1956. Serafina attended Barringer High School and graduated from Essex County College. She married Ramon A. Martinez on January 25, 1974 in Newark, NJ. Serafina began to further her education and received her LPN at Union County College at age 35 and then received her RN from Trinitas School of Nursing at age 55. Her nursing career spanned over 30 years working at Trinitas Hospital, Essex County Correctional Facility, Brookhaven Nursing Home and retiring as a visiting nurse from The Holy Redeemer Visiting Nurses.

Serafina Martinez is survived by her spouse Ramon A. Martinez, her two sons Ramon A. Martinez II, and Paul J. Martinez, her brothers Joseph Volpe and Robert Volpe her grandchildren Ramon A. Martinez III and Dante M. Martinez and her daughter in-law Yolanda Martinez.
