Alejandrina Perez Pena

Alejandrina Perèz Peña, lovingly called “Jandina and Janda” by family and friends, passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2022 at the age of 89 in her home in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. 
Our beautiful and genuine madrecita had the most immense nurturing heart for her family and people.  She always left a special mark on anyone’s life she touched.  Abuelita made the bestest and unique dulces de coco, avenita, tecesito, cafecito, and gave the most comforting, gentle hugs and kisses.  Her hands and cheeks were as tender as a baby’s touch.  Her growing up stories always captivated our attention. Even at the age of 89, she remembered names of all family members, friends and past people she has come in contact with all her life.  Overall, she exemplified the meaning of “LOVE”. 
She was born in San Sebastián, PR on March 24, 1933 to Doroteo Perèz y Merquiades De Peña.  Pre-deceased by 3 sisters, 1 brother, and 1 surviving brother.  Widow to beloved husband Anselmo Pèrez.  Survived by her daughters Maria Mendez, Edwina Torres (Mendez), Alicia Rodriguez, Myrna Perèz, and son, Josè Torres.  Abuelita also leaves behind her grandchildren, Miguel Aviles, Elisa Torres, Julio Aviles, Jenny Torres, Juan Said, Karen Gonzalez, Ines Cordova (Torres), Brian Torres, Alejandra Colon, and loving great-grandchildren. 
Please join us in remembrance of our madrecita and abuelita's life at the visitation service scheduled at Alvarez Funeral Home, Newark on Tuesday, March 14th from 5:00 - 9:00 PM.  Last visitation Wednesday, March 15th at 9:00 AM, followed by a mass at St. Michael’s Church, Newark at 10:00AM.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. 
As the faithful woman she was, for sure the lord has welcomed her through the gates of heaven into his glory.
