Alexander Caraballo

Alexander Caraballo, 45, of Newark, NJ passed on August 6, 2023.

Alex, affectionately known as ‘Pupi’, was born and raised in the Ironbound section of Newark, NJ. He had a wonderfully big personality and roaring laughter that always brought a warm smile to all that knew him. His love of music was his biggest passion and was reflected in his career over the years as an opera singer. Of many notable performances, he sang with the New York City Opera in the premiere season of Margaret Garner, the 2005 opera with score by Richard Danielpour and libretto by Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison. Alex was also a skilled guitarist and drummer, playing in several rock and heavy metal bands. In his later years he embraced his conservative values and was an adamant admirer of political discourse, religion and strived to lead with faith in all that he did. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and nature. Alex was a graduate of Ann Street School (Newark, NJ), Queen of Peace High School (North Arlington, NJ) and New Jersey City University (Jersey City, NJ).

Alex is survived by his beloved children Alexander Caraballo Jr. and Alessandro Caraballo, his loving parents, Israel Caraballo Sr. and Maria Caraballo, his brother Israel Caraballo Jr., his sister Provi Caraballo and her spouse, Nancy Hernandez, his fiance, Linda Davis and her son, Matthew Valez, and many family and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM. Following Visitation on Saturday, there will be a Mass at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 AM.  Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
