Carmen L. Espada

Our loving and precious Queen, Carmen L. Espada, 78, of Newark, NJ, earned her angel wings on Friday, January 27, 2023 at home with her family by her side.

Carmen was born July 1, 1944, in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Fundador Espada and Luisa Montalvo. 

Carmen loved cooking and helping others. Our Queen was one of a kind. She always showed everyone love no matter what. She was loved by many and helped everyone she could. She was the best Mother, Daughter, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend that anyone could ever ask for. Her door was always open, willing to accept whoever was in need. To know our Queen, is to know just how amazing a person could be. She was one of the strongest women ever known.

Carmen was blessed with a large and loving family. She was beyond devoted and loved them more than words can describe. She was the backbone that held everything together. She was kind and softly spoken and always had time to answer any question or solve a problem, no matter how small.

Our Queen will be dearly missed by her loved ones.

Roses in Heaven

If roses grow in Heaven

Lord, please pick a bunch for me.

Place them in my grandma’s arms

And tell her they’re from me.

Tell her that I love her and miss her,

And when she turns to smile,

Place a kiss upon her cheek

Carmen is survived by her Forever Partner; Israel Morales. Children; Carmen Gonzalez, Grace Gonzalez, Mariah Perez and predeceased by her son; Ramon Gonzalez. Her grandchildren/guardian children; Tanairi Estrella, Jahaira Brooks, Dale Brooks, Barbara Gonzalez, Israel Gonzalez, Ashley Gonzalez. Grandchildren; Jennis Santos, Vriannys Santos, Eslin Santos, Jessica Gonzalez, Raymon Cortez, Jose Cortes, and Eslin Santos I (Deceased). Great grandchildren; Damian Estrella, Dominic Estrella, Yanaira Brooks, Grace Brooks, Grayson Brooks, Jonah King Abreu, Destiny Gonzalez, Kayla Gonzalez, Jennyla Camacho, Envy Camacho, Arianna Soloranzo, Brianna Serrano, Luis Igartua III, Eslin Santos Jr., Nidia Segarra, Dior Santiago, Aideliz Abreu, Reyyana Cortez, Raymon Cortez, Adrianna Cortez, Paris Cortes, and Rylan Jose Cortes (Deceased). Great great grandchildren: Leonidas Villanueva.
