Ella Snowden Obituary

Ella Yvonne Snowden (aka) MeMa, 88, returned home to be with the Lord on November 14th, 2023. She was the Daughter of Gladys Holmes and Paul Snowden and the Sister of Noah Lee Holmes Jr.

Ella, the most loving and devoted mother, sister, and grandmother, was predeceased by her son, Wallace; granddaughter, Yvonne; great-grandson, Rah Rah; son-in-law, Isaac, and is survived by her two daughters, Glendora and Bernadette; granddaughters, Christine, Gladys, Carmel (aka) Di Di, Angel, Tamika, and Pamela; grandsons, Elijah and Coseen; great-grandchildren, Leon, Ella, Carlos, Jackie, Dre, Alliyah, Christopher, Essie, Mar Mar, Steve, Sariyah, Kaia, Kacey, Katilyn, and Emori; great-great-grandchildren, 15; son-in-law Gary (aka) Mouse; and her friend Pamela (Gary’s mother).

Ella loved cooking and creating her own recipes. Feeding people brought her joy like no other. She was a pet lover and had many throughout the years, including cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, chickens, ducks, and fish. She also had the most beautiful voice and would sing church songs that could melt hearts. Ella’s favorite song was Take My Hand, Precious Lord, by Mahalia Jackson. She loved writing poems and recipes, sewing, knitting, and embroidery, doing puzzles and word searches, and playing card games such as solitaire and 500, which she taught to her grandchildren.

Ella lived a life rich with love in her heart. She never judged anyone and loved everyone she had the pleasure of meeting. She is so extremely blessed because she lives on in every person who has crossed her path. Ella was stronger than anyone could ever know, and she passed her strength on to us. Nothing in this life could separate Ella from her family. Though there is a gaping hole in our hearts because we believed she would live forever, we know she is resting in the arms of the Lord.

Mommy, you were my conjoined twin for 56 years. I’ve lost my best friend, my ride-or-die, and I’ll see you again someday. Now you live in Christ Jesus, and I thank God I got to be your daughter. Thank you for praying for us. I wouldn't want any other person to be my mom. Rest peacefully, our love, our life, our everything. Amen.
