Jorge Luis Martinez Sr.

Jorge Luis Martinez Sr.  passed away at home in Bloomfield, New Jersey  on Sunday, February 23, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born  in Ponce, Puerto Rico on November 25, 1949 to Geronimo and Luz Maria Martinez (Santiago)

Jorge married the love of his life, Carmen in 1970. They had  two beautiful children Jorge Luis Jr. and Jason.  He was a proud graduate of St. Peter's College, Jersey City earning a Bachelor's degree in accounting. He worked for the North Ward Center and the Essex County Division of Family services for many years.  Jorge was proud of his participation in civic engagement throughout his life, in particular his support of the North Ward Democrats.

He adored his family above all else.  He enjoyed spending time in Wildwood, traveling, all sorts of adventures but most of all he enjoyed his home in Pennsylvania. That was his place of peace and tranquility.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife Carmen (Ortiz)  sons, Jorge L., Jr and Jason, mother Luz Maria, siblings Victor, Maria, Edward, Madeline, Yvette, Minerva & Doris. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family & friends. He was predeceased  by his father Geronimo and  sister Norma.

The visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 26th from 5-8 PM. Funeral, Thursday February 27th 9-10 AM, committal will be at Fairmount Crematory, Newark, N.J.
