Lorenzo Torres

Lorenzo Torres of Newark NJ, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and "Tio", passed away September 10, 2019 at the age of 85 after a brief illness. 

Lorenzo was born August 10, 1934 in Cidra, Puerto Rico to Serafin and Juana Torres. After settling in Newark with his wife, Maria, in 1954, Lorenzo served two years in the U.S. Army. He worked at Testrite Instrument Company for 35 years, retiring in 1997.

Lorenzo enjoyed playing dominos and solving word puzzles.  He was a dedicated Mets fan, who loved spending time with family and preferred his wife's homemade cooking over restaurant fare. Lorenzo was also an avid music lover and was particularly fond of musica jibara. He was known for his generous heart, helping hand, and kind spirit and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Lorenzo is survived by his wife Maria, his daughter Carmen and son-in-law Robert, his son Angel Luis, his grandson Angel Gabriel, his sister Carmen Maria, his brothers Herman and Alberto, and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In Lorenzo's honor, a memorial service and mass will be held 1pm on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at St. Lucy's Church at 118 Seventh Ave, Newark, NJ 07104 (tel: 973-803-4200).
