Lorenzo Washington Alvarez Ocampo, born on September 5, 1941, left this world on October 20, 2023. He was a devoted husband to Angela Castro, a loving father to Daniela Hernandez, and a cherished grandfather to Victoria Reghitto. He is also remembered by his son-in-law, Ernesto Hernandez.
Lorenzo dedicated 40 years of his life to “Administración Nacional de Puertos” (ANP) in Uruguay, with the first 15 years aboard the Tacoma ship as a steam engine and boiler operator. His dedication and hard work were evident to all who knew him.
But Lorenzo was more than just a dedicated worker. He was a man who embraced life with an open heart, always eager to engage in conversation with anyone about a wide range of topics, but especially his beloved soccer. His passion for the beautiful game was a joy to witness. He loved sharing stories about his adventures on the ship, a testament to the adventurous spirit that defined his life.
Even until the very end, Lorenzo fought for what he believed in, demonstrating the same determination and spirit that marked his life.
With love and gratitude,
