On September 13th, 2021, Maria (Hita) Crespo went home to be with the Lord. She was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico and resided in Newark, New Jersey for most of her life. Her purpose in this world seemed to have been written in the stars: To be a devoted Catholic, wife and mother.
As a young girl, Maria had the responsibility of taking care of her siblings which helped mold her selfless nature. She always looked for ways to be creative with the resources and talents she had. From an early age, she was passionate about sewing - selling handmade gloves with her sister in Puerto Rico as a way to help support the family. Maria was a lover of bright colors, birds, flowers, “jibarito music” and outings with her church community.
She lived a life reflective of patience and love. She would often say things like “Pray for others” or “Pray for patience to deal with those around you”.
Maria is survived by her children Carlos, Yolanda, Marisol and Javier; her siblings Benito and Andrea and her grandson Joaquin. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Carlos Manuel. She will forever be in our hearts.
Please join the Crespo family for Visitation on Monday, September 20th, from 5-8PM.
