Mildrey Alvarez Obituary

Alvarez, Mildrey (Nee: Mir) of Miami Beach. She was born in Santa Clara, Cuba, the only child of the late Jaime and Maria Mir (Nee: Rodriguez) on September 29, 1945. At the age of 18, she married the love of her life, Armando Alvarez. Anyone that knew them would attest that their love was second to none and lasted until his passing. While still in Havana, Cuba, they had two loving children: Jaime A. Alvarez and Janette Mesa (Alvarez). In 1970, all four left their beloved Cuba and immigrated to Madrid, Spain where they had two wonderful years of sightseeing and enjoying the wonders of Spain, while there they eagerly waited for entry to the United States.

After arriving in the US, their story was like many other immigrants, full of hard work and perseverance. Throughout the years, Mildrey only asked, or for a better word, demanded that her children graduate college. Around (circa 1990) after her dreams where realized, and her kids graduated, they packed their bags once again and moved to Miami Beach, enjoying an extended honeymoon until her husband develops cancer and passed in 2008. At that time, she finds herself for the first time in her life alone and went into a decline spiritually and mentally. During those dark periods, the only thing that kept her going was taking care of her mother who had developed dementia. After the passing of her mother, she declines further again but now developed MDS and went deeper into a state of depression. She knew that MDS would lead to her demise. On June 13th, 2022, she joined her husband mother and father in the eternal grace of the omnipresent with her loving and devoted daughter by her side at her hospice death bed. (As a side note; just as Mildrey did for her own mother, Janette cared tirelessly for her to the very end).

She is survived by her two children: Jaime (Rita) and Janette (David), four grandchildren: Yesenia Mena, Nicole Alvarez, Christine Mesa, Jaime M. Alvarez, one great grandson: Logan Mena, Sister-in-law: Gladys Rodriguez (Nee: Alvarez), Nephews: Armando and Antonio Rodriguez, aunts, cousins, Tony and Nena (who were always there for her), her dear, dear friends/ extended family from the condo who would worry about her well-being and went beyond what any family member would expect of them and her new Facebook friends . … My sister and I are forever grateful. May God Bless you all.

As per her wishes services will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any MDS foundation in her memory.
