Ramonita Garcia

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, godmother, aunt, and friend passed away on November 12th, 2023. Ramonita or “Nita” as she was known by many was a life-long resident of Newark, NJ.

Ramonita was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. She came to Newark, New Jersey in the 1960s. She then attended Montclair State College. She later began working for the City of Newark under the Kenneth Gibson Administration. She devoted over 40 years to the city of Newark.

Ramonita is survived by her mother Olga Tejada, her sister Marissa I. Villafane Tejada, her brother José Antonio Quiñones, her daughter Ivette Benavent and son in law Louis Benavent, her two granddaughters Sarah Benavent and Dallas Benavent, her nephew Angel Pantoja and niece Ilia Aquino and their children.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Monday, November 20th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and November 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Interment to follow at Glendale Cemetery located in Bloomfield, NJ.
